About My Project

The Goal of this project is build a tool whereby a user can, using their social media account, select an ad campaign of which they have conducted in the past and they can retrieve the metrics data associated with the campaign. From there those metrics are processed through a custom formula and a monetary ROI amount is returned.

An Example

An example of where a tool like this would come in handy is as follows: Imagine if you were a football club representative and you were in charge of aquiring a new sponsorship deal for the club. A pitch to a sponsor will usually involve a summary of the follower numbers and reach that the clubs social media has, but how can the sponsor be sure that this deal will generate a return for them? Using this tool you would have the ability show the potential sponsor an actual monetary value that you calculated from a previous ad campaign that was run.

About My Project Continued

A tool of this kind is not just limited to just sports teams, a tool like this can be applicable towards any person or group who have a large social media presence who run Social Media ad campaigns often. The example of a football club is simply one of the bigger and more easily explainable applications of this concept.

Limitations

Unfortunately due to technical limitations due to the Premium functionalities in the various platforms APIs, in my Application the Facebook and Instagram functionalities are only linked to my own personal accounts as those are the only ones with access to the API keys.

The Twitter implementation however has the ability to allow any user to log and view their own tweets between certain dates and if they wish only tweets with certain hashtags. It also allows a user to search for any users @ handle and apply the same pre-requisites. Through the use of the time frame and hashtag filtering a user can retrieve an ad campaign consisting of tweets adhering to those requirements. As usually an ad campaign on twitter is denoted by the hashtag that is in use in it.
